Why commercial through Evolve
Commercial is where we do our best work
One application, one enquiry
Every application leaves an enquiry on your credit file. We choose the lender first, then apply once, rather than applying to several lenders to compare.
The full cost, upfront
Establishment fees, monthly fees and early payout costs sit alongside the rate, so you compare the total cost, not just the headline number.
The right loan type
Unsecured, secured against a car, or added to your home loan: we show what each option costs over its term before you choose.
Credit history, read properly
A late payment, a thin credit file or self-employed income rules some lenders out but not others. We know which is which.

In plain terms
What a personal loan broker actually does
A personal loan looks simple: a set amount, repaid over a fixed term, usually without security. The catch is the pricing. Many lenders set your rate only after they have assessed your credit file, income and existing debts, so the lowest advertised rate is the best case. Every application you make also leaves an enquiry on your file.
Working through that is the job of a personal loan broker. We look at what the money is for, your income and your credit history, then match you to a lender whose policy and pricing fit before anything is lodged. Sometimes the better answer is not an unsecured loan: car finance options secured against the vehicle, or, if you own a home, the option to refinance your home loan and roll the debts into one repayment.
Tell us what the loan is for and what you have been offered so far. The answer will be straight: possible now, possible with changes, or not yet.
How it works
From first call to funds paid out
- Step
The first conversation
A call, usually within one business day, covering what the loan is for, what you owe now and your credit history.
- Step
The lender, chosen first
We check your income, debts and credit history against lender policy, so the application goes to a lender that fits.
- Step
The recommendation
Lender, amount, term, fees and estimated repayments in writing, or an honest not yet and what changes it. You decide before anything is lodged.
- Step
Approval and payout
We lodge one application with the chosen lender. If it is approved, funds go to you, your creditors or the car seller.
Understanding personal loans
What decides the loan you are offered
How do lenders set a personal loan rate?
Many lenders price each personal loan individually. They look at your credit history, income, existing debts and whether the loan is secured, then set a rate within their advertised range.
The lowest advertised rate goes to the strongest applications. The comparison rate is the fairer guide, because it folds most fees into one figure, but it is worked out on a set example loan, so your own cost can differ.
Secured or unsecured: which personal loan fits?
A secured personal loan uses an asset, usually the car you are buying, as security, which generally brings a lower rate. An unsecured loan needs no asset, so the rate is usually higher and the lender leans harder on your credit history and income.
Lenders limit what they will accept as security, such as the age and value of a car. If the asset does not qualify, or there is no asset at all, unsecured is the usual route.
Can a personal loan consolidate your debts?
Yes. A consolidation loan pays out credit cards and smaller loans and leaves one repayment over a set term, which can cut your total interest if the rate and fees are lower and the term is not stretched.
It works best when the old limits are closed, and many lenders make that a condition. Rolling the debts into a home loan usually means a lower rate, but spreading them over a longer term can cost more overall, so we compare both on the same basis.
Do personal loan applications affect your credit score?
Each formal application is recorded on your credit file as an enquiry, and several in a short period can lower your score. Lenders may also read a run of recent enquiries as a sign you have been declined elsewhere.
That is why we assess your situation and choose the lender before anything is lodged. One application, to a lender whose policy fits, keeps new enquiries on your file to a minimum.

Questions people ask before they apply
What can I use a personal loan for?
Personal loans can be used for a range of legitimate personal purposes, including debt consolidation, medical expenses, travel, home improvements, and major purchases. The right use depends on whether the borrowing solves a genuine need and whether the repayments are manageable.
How much can I borrow?
That depends on factors such as your income, existing debts, living expenses, credit profile, and the lender’s policy. Different lenders may assess the same borrower differently.
What is the difference between a secured and unsecured personal loan?
An unsecured personal loan does not require specific security, while a secured personal loan uses acceptable security and may allow for stronger pricing or higher limits in some cases. The right option depends on the scenario and lender fit.
How long does it take to get approved?
Approval time varies depending on the lender, the quality of the documents provided, and how straightforward the application is. Some applications are relatively quick, while others require more detailed assessment.
What documents are usually needed for a personal loan?
Common documents include identification, proof of income, bank statements, and statements showing existing debts or liabilities. Self-employed borrowers may also need to provide tax returns or other financial documents.
Are there fees involved with a personal loan?
Potentially, yes. Depending on the lender and loan type, there may be establishment fees, ongoing fees, early repayment costs, or other charges. That is one reason the best personal loan is not just about headline rate.
Can I repay my personal loan early?
Sometimes, yes, but it depends on the lender and the loan structure. Early repayment terms can vary, so it is worth checking this before the loan is put in place.
