What debt advisory can include
Credit paper preparation
We prepare clear, lender-ready credit papers and supporting submissions to strengthen how a borrowing proposal is presented.
Lender liaison and negotiation
We deal directly with banks, non-bank lenders and funding providers to help clients navigate structure, terms, conditions and commercial discussions more effectively.
Independent credit assessment
We provide an experienced external view of the proposed transaction, debt structure, servicing position and likely lender concerns.
Financial analysis and debt structuring
We assess the numbers, test borrowing capacity and provide practical guidance on how debt may best be structured for the client’s objectives.
Lender mediation
Where a lender relationship has become difficult, sensitive or time-critical, we can assist in managing communication and helping move matters toward a workable outcome.
Debt strategy and product guidance
We help clients assess the most appropriate debt, lender or funding pathway based on the scenario, objectives and broader commercial context.

Why clients engage Evolve for debt advisory
Clients engage us when they need more than a loan recommendation.
They need clear thinking, strong analysis and commercially grounded advice on structure, lender fit and credit quality.
Our role is to help clients understand the real issues, strengthen their position, and approach lenders with a better-prepared and more credible case.
Why work with Mark Stevenson
Mark Stevenson brings more than 25 years of finance experience and a commercially grounded understanding of how borrowing decisions are assessed, structured and negotiated.
He holds a Bachelor of Business with majors in Banking and Accounting, combining formal financial training with decades of real-world lending and advisory experience.
Debt advisory requires more than product knowledge. It requires an ability to understand the numbers, identify risk, assess lender fit, structure a transaction properly, and communicate a borrowing proposition in a way that makes commercial sense.
For clients, that means clearer advice, stronger analysis, better lender positioning, and more confidence in the path forward.
Examples of matters we can assist with
We may be able to assist with matters such as:
- Reviewing an existing debt structure before refinance or expansion
- Assessing borrowing position before approaching lenders
- Preparing or improving a credit submission
- Helping a business present financials and borrowing rationale more effectively
- Negotiating with a lender on structure, terms or process
- Reviewing a proposed facility offer before acceptance
- Working through lender concerns around servicing, structure or credit profile
- Assisting borrowers dealing with time-sensitive or commercially sensitive lender issues
- Helping professional advisors and their clients think through debt strategy before action is taken
Sometimes the best value is in the advice itself
In many finance transactions, the cost of advice is absorbed by brokerage, lender commissions or mandate fees attached to the loan.
Debt advisory is different.
This service exists for clients who want access to our expertise, analysis and strategic guidance, even where no debt facility is being arranged through us.
In those matters, the value is not just in sourcing a loan. It is in helping the client make a better borrowing decision, present a stronger case, and deal with lenders from a more informed position.
Fees
Debt advisory engagements are generally charged at $400 plus GST per hour, billed in 15-minute increments.
Travel is charged at 30 minutes for Sydney metro appointments.
For matters outside Sydney metro or interstate, travel and meeting arrangements can be quoted on request.
Where appropriate, fixed-fee scopes or quoted project fees may also be offered for defined pieces of work.
If you would like to discuss whether your matter is suited to debt advisory, we are happy to have an initial conversation.
Depending on the debt position, it may also help to review our pages on business loans, commercial property loans and self-employed home loans before approaching a lender.
