Why commercial through Evolve

Commercial is where we do our best work

Pre-approval before you shop

Know your budget and repayment before you visit a dealer, so you negotiate on the price of the car, not the weekly figure.

Deep lender relationships

Deep working relationships with 15 to 20 lenders, specialists among them, so a thin credit file or past default can be assessed on its merits.

Dealer offers checked

Bring the dealer’s quote. We check the rate, fees, term and balloon, show what add-ons cost over the loan, and say if it stacks up.

The full cost, compared

Repayment, fees, term and any balloon set out side by side, so you see what each option really costs, start to finish.

In plain terms

What a car loan broker actually does

A car loan is usually secured against the car, so the lender assesses the vehicle as well as your finances. The car’s age, its price and whether it comes from a dealer or a private seller all count. That is why two lenders can answer the same buyer very differently, and why the dealer’s finance office is rarely the only option worth checking.

We look at your income, your commitments and the car, then match you to a lender whose policy fits. Where the numbers support it, you shop with pre-approval in hand, and any dealer offer gets compared with the alternatives, fees and balloon included. A default or past decline narrows the list rather than closing it. That is the work we do when the bank says no.

Tell us what you are buying and where you are up to. The answer will be straight: possible now, possible with changes, or not yet.

How it works

From first call to settlement

  • Step

    The recommendation

A 15 to 30 minute call about the car, the price and your situation, then lender, repayment and total cost in writing.

  • Step

    Loan application

Once you agree, one application to the lender that fits, with a short document list: ID, income evidence and the car’s details when known.

  • Step

    Lender approval

The lender assesses you and the car, or issues a pre-approval if you are still shopping. You hear the outcome and any conditions plainly.

  • Step

    Approval to settlement

We handle the loan documents and payment to the dealer or private seller. Pickup then depends on the seller, not the finance.

Understanding car finance

What shapes the loan you end up with

A car loan pays for the car up front, and the lender holds security over the car until the final repayment. Because the car backs it, the loan usually costs less than an unsecured personal loan.

Most car loans run for one to seven years at a fixed rate, with an optional balloon at the end. Approval turns on your income, existing debts and credit history, and on the car itself.

Often, yes. A default, missed payments or a past decline rules out some lenders, not all of them, and some weigh how old the history is and the story behind it.

Expect the loan to cost more while the history is fresh; a deposit or a shorter term helps. A record of on-time repayments can open up mainstream lenders again, whether for a refinance or the next car.

Only if you have planned for it. A balloon, or residual, is a lump sum left owing at the end of the loan: it lowers the regular repayments, but you pay interest on the larger balance for the whole term.

At the end you pay it out, refinance it or sell the car to cover it. Set it no higher than the car’s realistic value at that point, not wherever the repayment looks smallest.

When you have an ABN and the car is used mainly for business. A chattel mortgage is the business version of a car loan: the business owns the car from day one and can usually claim interest and depreciation on the business share, plus the GST credit if registered for GST.

That is why a chattel mortgage is the most common way businesses finance utes and work vehicles. The claims have limits on more expensive cars, so check them with your accountant first.

Questions car buyers ask before signing

Yes, in some cases a car loan can be refinanced. The key question is not just whether it can be done, but whether the new structure, lender, and terms are actually better suited to your current situation.

Not always. Deposit requirements vary depending on the lender, the vehicle, the strength of the application, and whether the deal is being structured as a secured or unsecured loan.

That depends on the lender, the quality of the documents provided, the type of vehicle, and how straightforward the scenario is. Some applications move quickly, while others require more detailed assessment.

Yes. Pre-approval is available for new and used vehicles, including dealership and private sale purchases. It can be useful when you want to understand your position before committing to a vehicle.

Requirements vary by lender and scenario, but lenders commonly want identification, income and liability information, and details of the vehicle being purchased. Once a specific vehicle is chosen, the lender may also require invoice or purchase details.

Yes. Secured and unsecured loans may both be available for used vehicles, and finance may also be available for private sale purchases depending on the lender and the vehicle.

A secured car loan gives the lender security over the vehicle and usually comes with stronger terms. An unsecured loan does not give the lender security and usually carries higher rates and lower limits. A novated lease is a salary packaging arrangement involving your employer and can suit the right borrower in the right circumstances.

In many cases, yes. A broker can help assess a wider range of lender options, explain the trade-offs more clearly, and reduce the risk of ending up with a poor-fit product simply because it was convenient at the point of sale.
